Hemp Fabric - natural, renewable, biodegradable, environmentally friendly Hemp has been used as a textile for 6,000 years.

Could Green Clothing utilise a greener fabric than Hemp ?. Such a prolific crop, hemp is a natural herbicide, by out-growing any competing fledgling weeds, it literally puts them into its shade, where they wither and die. Hemp can achieve heights of 12 feet in its short growing season of only 5 months. Naturally resistant to fungus and insects, this is one crop the chemical industry hates. Hemp’s deep tap-roots break up and aerate the soil, thereby promoting microbial soil life and negating the need for fertilisers. Those deep tap-roots go searching for moisture making hemp a crop that does not need irrigating.
