bamboo fabricsWith heights of up to 30 metres (98ft), you could mistake Bamboo for a tree, yet it is actually a grass. This vigorous grass does not need replanting after you have cut it back for a crop, it comes back year after year. This rapidly renewable woody grass can grow up to a metre per day.
It requires no fertiliser or pesticides, in fact it even thrives in overgrazed areas and helps to reduce rain run-off, preventing soil erosion. Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen than trees and can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) by sequestering 12 tons of CO2 per hectare.
Bamboo fabric - the woody stems are pulped, the bamboo fibres can then be spun into yarn. It is unusual for fibres to be as round and smooth as those found in Bamboo – it is these natural characteristics that produce the fine Bamboo yarn that has terrific inherent strength.
