With heights of up to 30 metres (98ft), you could mistake Bamboo for a tree, yet it is actually a grass. This vigorous grass does not need replanting after you have cut it back for a crop, it comes back year after year. This rapidly renewable woody grass can grow up to a metre per day.
It requires no fertiliser or pesticides, in fact it even thrives in overgrazed areas and helps to reduce rain run-off, preventing soil erosion. Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen than trees and can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) by sequestering 12 tons of CO2 per hectare.
Bamboo fabric - the woody stems are pulped, the bamboo fibres can then be spun into yarn. It is unusual for fibres to be as round and smooth as those found in Bamboo – it is these natural characteristics that produce the fine Bamboo yarn that has terrific inherent strength.
Bamboo - Natural, renewable, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
British Made Eco use bamboo fabric within our eco friendly fashion range where its fineness, silky sheen and soft handle add the wow factor to classic designs.
